Set up your phone for POP3 email - Motorola Gleam+

If you're using a POP3 email account in your email application on your computer, you can also set it up on your phone. Follow these instructions to set up your phone for POP3 email.
Please note that these instructions are based on a POP3 email account. If you have a web-based email account, such as Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail or Gmail, you need to use the settings for web-based email. Click here for information on how to the set up your phone for web-based email.

Key in live.vodafone.com

An APN is used to establish a data connection.

Press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Normal.

Key in the name or the IP address of your email provider's incoming server and press the Navigation key.

Key in mail.vodafone.ie and press the Navigation key.

Key in your username and press the Navigation key.

Key in the password for your email account at your email provider and press the Navigation key.

Key in a name for your email account and press the Navigation key.

Highlight the required email account.

Highlight the field below Security and press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Off.

If required, scroll to Outgoing server and press the Navigation key.

Create new data connection

Press Options.
Scroll to Add PS account and press the Navigation key.

Enter name

Highlight the field below Account name and key in Vodafone Mail

Enter APN

Highlight the field below APN.
Key in live.vodafone.com
An APN is used to establish a data connection.

Press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Normal.

Save data connection

Press Done.
Press the Navigation key to confirm.
Press Disconnect to return to standby mode.

Find "Email"

Press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Messaging and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Email and press the Navigation key.

Create new email account

If required, press the Navigation key to confirm.
If email accounts have been created already:
Press Options.
Scroll to Email accounts and press the Navigation key.
Press Options.
Scroll to New account and press the Navigation key.

Enter email address

Key in your email address and press the Navigation key.

Select server type

Scroll to POP3 and press the Navigation key.

Select data connection

Press Options.
Scroll to Change data account and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Primary account and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Vodafone Mail and press the Navigation key.
Press Done.
Press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Next and press the Navigation key.

Enter incoming server

Key in the name or the IP address of your email provider's incoming server and press the Navigation key.

Key in mail.vodafone.ie and press the Navigation key.

Enter username

Key in your username and press the Navigation key.

Press Back.

Select setting for retrieval of new email messages

Highlight the required email account.
Press the Navigation key.
Press Options.
Scroll to Settings and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Advanced settings and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Account settings and press the Navigation key.
Highlight the field below Check interval and press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Off or the required period.
Press Done.
Press the Navigation key to confirm.

Edit incoming port

If required, scroll to Incoming server and press the Navigation key.
Highlight the field below Incoming port and key in 110

Turn off encryption of incoming email messages

Highlight the field below Security and press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Off.
Press Done.
Press the Navigation key to confirm.

Edit outgoing port

If required, scroll to Outgoing server and press the Navigation key.
Highlight the field below Outgoing port and key in 25

Turn off encryption of outgoing email messages

Highlight the field below Security and press Navigation key right or Navigation key left to select Off.
Press Done.
Press the Navigation key to confirm.

Exit

Press Disconnect to return to standby mode.
