Regardless of your position in the menu structure, you can return to standby mode by pressing the Menu key.

Some menu items are not closed completely when you press the Menu key. Instead they run in the background as active menu items. If you want to close a menu item completely, press Exit or Back the necessary number of times to return to standby mode.
